Since Winter has decided to stick around a little longer, I decided to cook a hearty but healthy meal. Bison Chili topped with a dollop of Light Sour Cream, Red Onions, Scallions and a little Sharp Cheddar Cheese with a Whole Wheat Cheese Quesadilla.

Did you know that bison has lower calories and fat than beef and it’s higher in protein? It has around the same amount of fat and calories as ground turkey? Bison has more protein than ground turkey and slightly higher in calories. Both meats are a great and healthy choice.
I snagged the ground bison in the reduced meat section @krogerco for $1 a pack a few months ago and put several in my freezer. I used 2 packs today. They had no salt added diced tomatoes on sale today for $0.49 a can and I still had some bell peppers left over from my reduced produce find earlier in the week for $1. @sprouts had their no salt added dark red kidney beans, black beans and pinto beans on sale for $0.99 so I bought one can of each. The total cost for my pot of chili was less than $8 for several servings. Winning!
