A Last Minute Running Decision

On March 15th, I finished my 4th half marathon at the Germantown Half and 5k Race in Germantown, TN. I slipped this one in at the last minute as I registered on Friday night. Yes, two days before the race. Crazy, I know. One of my goals was to qualify as a Half Fanatic by completing 2 halves in 2 weeks. Check. Won’t be doing that again anytime soon lol.

I had a great time meeting up with my BGR sisters, BMR brothers and sorors of Alpha Kappa Alpha for the race. I’ve learned since starting my running journey, you never know who you might bless or be blessed by along the way as you share this sacred pavement. I’ve found it’s not always about the actual run, but the lessons I’ve learned and the people I’ve met along the way.

I met an awesome older lady at mile 9 as we encouraged one another to make it towards the end and finish strong. She had an incredible spirit and determination. She’s pretty fast too for her age lol. Just because we’re older, doesn’t mean we have to quit living. Now, we’re running fb friends. I’ve never met a stranger.

In life, I’ll never get to run or cross that same place in time again, but while I’m there, I want to make every second count.
